SCHOOL SYLLABUS FOR BEGINNERS

The objective of the Beginners (Level 1) syllabus is to give beginners a solid grounding in the basic principles and practise taught in the regular classes, and to provide a context for their future studies. In the first instance, the emphasis will be on the basic movements of the exercises, but opportunities will be provided to allow greater insights into the concepts of structure, movement and applications and theory associated with each movement.

The Beginners syllabus will include:

Taijiquan (Full Syllabus)

  • Yang Family Simplified 24 Step Taijiquan, or 37 Step tradition Yang Style Taijiquan
  • Push Hands
  • Taiji theory
Taijiquan (Balance and Control Syllabus)
  • 13 Step Generic Yang Style Routine
  • Taiji Theory

Qigong:

  • Daoyin Baojian Gong or  Shujin Zhuanggu Gong
  • Basic knowledge of applications and background.
Taijijian:
  • 32 Step Sword Form
  • Sructure of Sword

Assessment Level 1

 

SCHOOL SYLLABUS LEVEL 2 – BEGINNERS TO INTERMEDIATE

The Level 2 Syllabus will build upon the basics covered in Level 1, and will emphasise the flow, focus and technical aspects of movements, as well as structure and applications. Movements will be considered in a wider context than just the 24 Step Form, with the introduction of new forms, weapons and partnerwork.

Taijiquan:

  • Yang Family Simplified 24 Step Taijiquan (or other short form)
  • Chanquanshu/Yang Family 108 Step Taijiquan (optional)
  • 13 Step
  • Push Hands
  • San Shou
  • Taijijian 32 Step
  • Taiji Theory

 

Qigong:

  • Daoyin Baojiang Gong
  • Shujin Zhuanggu Gong
  • Yangsheng Taijizhang 1 and 2 (optional)
  • Wuxing theory.
